As the new Chair of a CLP I was little wary of getting things wrong in front of an audience of potential Rule Book experts. I've chaired meetings before in the but this was a different context and I was taking over from a very experienced and efficient person. Having spent hours researching and downloading pages of Roberts Rules and other "how to do it" sources, I found a reference to this book. Amazon delivered the next day (!) in time for my first General Meeting that same evening. Amazing. The book is extremely easy to read and understand, as well as small enough to tuck into a folder so that you can refer to it during the meeting. At one point, the Secretary asked for MY view on a point of procedure and we found the answer after a clandestine search through Citrine's book. I've read it from cover to cover since and used it (with the Secretary) to prepare ourselves for whatever the meetings can throw at us. Labour Party members will know that this has been a difficult summer. I would recommend the book to anyone, even experienced Chairs, as it is regarded as authoritative even by those who know their way through the Rule Book.

Great book, but someone is really having a laugh trying to sell it for £200. First editions sell for less than £40, this is just a 1982 reprint.

This is a must for anyone who regularly attends meetings of a political nature - which means virtually any meeting. A must for Trade Unionists. A must for Labour Party members. Very readable.I had a dog-eared original copy when I became a student (circa 1966) and that eventually dropped to pieces. This is a much welcomed reprint. Handy size - will fit in any pocket. If you are a chairman/lady this will be your salvation. If you want to cause havoc at meetings this is the ideal tool.

Forget the Trades Union and Labour Party connections. This has to be THE book on how to run a committee. If used properly by an ordinary committee member it is possible to control a meeting without even being an officer. At one time this book was my bread and butter. Everything you'll ever need to know about committee work is contained therein. Wish I'd never given mine away. Can anyone find me a cheap copy?

Have been looking for a copy of this book for quite a while and the product lived up to all that was said about it. Excellent value for the price paid.
